About the school

Freesoles Dance is a school for everyone! As someone who has danced for 40 years and who was well supported through a  local community school  to dream big I strongly believe in the opportunities dance can create. I believe in dance for all. I believe in not limiting opportunities for those who love to dance. Dance can be a profession, a life long passion, a way to exercise, an opportunity for mindfulness, a chance for connection and friendship and a rewarding and creative past time for any one who shows up, joins in, finds a love and doesn't give up. At Freesoles Dance we are here to achieve that. We offer a broad range of dance styles and use a wide selection of dance awarding bodies because we know everybody can dance but not everyone loves or wants the same things. Where could you find your groove better than at dance class?!

At Freesoles Dance well qualified and experienced teachers with a broad skills base and access to a wide range of syllabi and awarding organisations can tailor their classes to meet every students needs. At Freesoles Dance all dancers are valued and all will be provided with the opportunities that are right for them.

Safety First!

It's important to know that all our teachers have DBS checks, up to date extensive safeguarding training, first aid training and undertake regular professional development courses in all the genres we teach. At Freesoles Dance we are professional in all aspects of our work and our knowledge of safety and welfare is as impressive as our knowledge of dance! Here is our minimum operating standards certificate which confirms our standards meet those of East Riding Council . Please do check our policies page on this website for further information.

      Photography

Did you notice there are no photos? At Freesoles Dance it is school policy not to use photos of our student on social media or the internet for advertising. There are photos of shows, workshops, events, exams and open days in our private parents groups but our students are students not advertising assets and like everyone else they have days they want capturing on film and days they don't so we don't do that any more. We are always open for new starters to look around and parents are always welcome in our buildings for open days and to come and talk with us. We want to meet you but we don't want our students to feel class is all about photography and striking a pose, it's about dance and freedom and expression and fun and sometimes we have let our hair down and it helps to turn the cameras off.

I have also extended this courtesy to our teachers below, their photos are not here either, but if you like to see a face before you meet us, the information booklet you are sent before classes has all our photos in. I have added instead some of the kind of information our students prefer to know along side that which may be important for parents and carers to know on making school selections.

What we want for our students

Our Values

Autonomy

Pupils at Freesoles Dance are in control of their dance journey. Dancers are welcome to choose their favourite classes, develop their own style, and be themselves. We will match this with expert tuition and care in whichever dance styles you choose.

Belonging

Friendship and community are at the heart of everything we do. Freesoles Dance is a community school that values each pupil and the social and performance opportunities dance creates.

Capability

We want all of our dancers to achieve their goals, and recognise their skills and abilities with pride. No matter your background or experience, our teachers will meet you where you are, and help you to fulfil your potential in a supportive environment.
