Disciplines Explained

Ballet

Ballet is a type of dance that originated in Italy in the 15th Century, and later developed in France and Russia to become a highly technical form of dance with its own vocabulary based mostly in French. It has been globally influential and has defined the foundational techniques used in many other dance genres and cultures.

Tap

Tap dance is characterized by using the sounds of tap shoes striking the floor as a form of percussion. The sound is made by shoes that have a metal "tap" on the heel and toe. Tap is fantastic for developing rhythm and musicality.

Acro

Acrobatics, basically, is floor-based gymnastics. Our Acro pupils work on balance, agility, and motor coordination, while developing muscle strength and flexibility.

Modern

Modern dance is a free expressive style of dancing that developed in the early 20th century. Freesoles Modern classes incorporate elements of jazz and contemporary to create a well-rounded modern dancer.

Street/
Freestyle

Street Dance is a social dance style that encourages interaction and contact with other dancers and spectators. Freestyle allows for individual expression and dancers are encouraged to create new moves and develop a personal style. Our teachers combine all of these elements into one fun class!

Musical
Theatre

Musical Theatre classes are second-to-none for improving confidence as you sing, act, and dance your way through an immense library of stories and musicals.

Ballroom
& Latin

Ballroom dance is a set of social partner dances including the waltz, foxtrot, and quickstep. Latin dance is an umbrella term for a number of dances originating in Latin America such as the salsa, tango, jive, and rumba. Think Strictly Come Dancing!

Aerial

Hoop

An aerial hoop is a suspended circular steel ring often seen in the circus. From it we hang, spin, roll, and make interesting shapes to create routines.
