At Freesoles Dance we have an annual performance. We have performed a full length version of the Nutcracker ballet and the year before Peter Pan the musical. Another successful show was called the Glitter Bug Ball. All performances were a sell out, selling over 200 tickets each and were a great success. Every year we perform a different show, some times ballets, sometimes musicals, sometimes variety performances but always great fun. Performances give our pupils the opportunity to further develop the skills they have learnt in musical theatre classes, allowing them to take part in fully costumed productions and develop the skills and experience needed for performing on stage.

Dancing in the West End
In addition to annual whole school performances Freesoles pupils are offered the opportunity to take part in other regional and national events. Most recently a group of 16 pupils, aged between 5 and 12 travelled to London to dance at Her Majesty’s Theatre, London. Freesoles dancers took part in a variety showcase of dance schools from around the country performing two 6 minute long dance routines. One was a 6 minute long retelling of the story of Peter Pan told through dance, the second was a contemporary sequence based on the concept of Dreams and Nightmares. The children travelled to London together on a coach, rehearsed, performed to a crowd of a thousand people to thunderous applause and travelled back together with all families travelling on the coach with us so they could watch their children in their first ever (but hopefully not their last) West End performance. The event was a huge success and the children all danced brilliantly. We look forward to many more equally successful adventures in the future!!
Working with the Northern Ballet School
In September 2015 the Northern Ballet Company came to Freesoles to work with our dancers for a day. In three sessions the specialist dance educators from the company worked with our dancers in all aspects of The Elves and the Shoemaker ballet. It was an exciting and challenging day which was enjoyed by everyone.
